Upgrade to the Mirror Mounts of the Analog Sky Magic Binoculars

One of the biggest challenges I faced with my Analog Sky Magic binoculars was merging the views. The original design made it difficult to adjust the mirrors for proper alignment. Turning the knobs to move the image left/right or up/down and merge the two views was nearly impossible.

That issue is now solved thanks to a clever upgrade!

What Changed?

  • Acorn Nuts for Collimation:
Instead of using standard bolts, the new design uses acorn nuts. These provide a smoother and more precise adjustment, making collimation much easier.

  • Improved Mirror Mount Design:
The back of the mirror mount now features a groove that perfectly fits the acorn nuts. This ensures stability and accuracy during adjustments.
You can see this improvement in the photo below:

The new mirror mount (left) and the old mirror mount (right).  The bolts had destroyed the flat back.

The Result

Merging the two views is now effortless. The knobs turn smoothly, and the alignment holds perfectly. This upgrade transforms the usability of the binoculars, making the viewing experience much more enjoyable.

If you’ve struggled with collimation on your Analog Sky Magic binoculars, I highly recommend this modification. It’s a simple change with a big impact!
