Solar Observation – November 8, 2025

On November 8, 2025, I had the chance to observe the Sun under good conditions, and it turned out to be an unforgettable session!

White-Light Observation

Using my TS-Optics PhotoLine 80 telescope combined with a Tele Vue 8mm Ethos eyepiece, I observed a large sunspot that dominated the solar disk. The level of detail was incredible—penumbra and umbra structures were clearly visible. To capture the moment, I took a photo through the telescope with my Canon EOS 80D camera. The image really shows the complexity of the sunspot and its surrounding granulation.

H-alpha View

Switching to my Coronado SolarMax 40 telescope, the Sun revealed an entirely different face. The prominences were spectacular, arching gracefully off the limb and showing dynamic activity. Filaments and surface texture added depth to the view, making it a truly mesmerizing experience.

Why This Matters

Observing the Sun in different wavelengths—white light and H-alpha—offers a unique perspective on solar activity. Sunspots indicate magnetic activity on the surface, while prominences and filaments in H-alpha show the drama unfolding in the chromosphere.

Equipment Used:
