🚀 Solar Eclipse Workbench 1.10.0 Released

On June 4, 2026, a new version of Solar Eclipse Workbench was released: v1.10.0. This update introduces a very practical enhancement for anyone working with camera live view during eclipse preparation and testing.

🔍 Live View Zoom & Pan

The highlight of this release is the addition of zoom and pan functionality in the Live View window. This makes it significantly easier to inspect focus and framing in detail—especially useful when working with high-resolution sensors or long focal lengths.

  • Zoom control: New options include Fit, 5x, and 10x
  • Centre-cropped magnification: When zoomed in, the preview shows a magnified crop of the centre of the frame
  • Pan sliders: Horizontal and vertical sliders allow you to move the zoomed region across the frame
  • Crosshair retained: The familiar blue centre crosshair remains visible for precise alignment

This improvement makes fine-tuning focus and composition much more intuitive, bringing the Live View experience closer to what astrophotographers expect from dedicated camera tools.

🌞 Why This Matters

During solar eclipse photography, precision is everything. Whether you're aligning the Sun on your sensor, checking focus on the solar limb, or verifying framing for totality sequences, being able to zoom and pan in Live View saves time and increases confidence in your setup.

This feature is particularly useful when:

  • Using long focal lengths where small focus errors are critical
  • Fine-tuning alignment with tracking mounts
  • Testing sequences before eclipse day
