A Night Under the Full Moon at Spitzkoppe
On the night of July 11, we experienced one of the most surreal and beautiful scenes nature has to offer: a full moon rising over the Spitzkoppe in Namibia.
Spitzkoppe, often called the Matterhorn of Africa, is a dramatic cluster of granite peaks rising out of the Namib Desert between Usakos and Swakopmund. Its rugged beauty and isolation make it a dream location for photographers, stargazers, and nature lovers alike.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the desert cooled and anticipation built. The full moon was set to rise—and when it did, it was nothing short of spectacular. Still low on the horizon, the moon appeared deformed and stretched, a result of atmospheric distortion. Its orange glow added a surreal touch to the landscape, making it look almost like a painting come to life.

Later in the night, the moon climbed higher and cast a silvery light across the granite peaks. The entire landscape was bathed in moonlight so bright that it felt like a dreamscape. The stars above were sharp and plentiful, adding depth to the already magical scene.
